Warhammer 3D prints 40K

At 3DSourced we’ve covered everything 3D printing and 3D since 2017. Our team has interviewed the most innovative 3D printing experts, tested and reviewed more than 20 of the most popular 3D printers and 3D scanners to give our honest recommendations, and written more than 500 3D printing guides over the last 5 years.

3D printing figurines and miniatures are some of the first things most people do when they get their first 3D printer. They’re small, they’re easy to print, and they reflect our personal interests and hobbies, but few are as detailed and personal as 3D printed Warhammer minifigures.

Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 has become the most popular miniature strategy game in the world, expanding its massive lore out into books, videogames, and even comics.

With the rise in 3D printing in households, as well as our ability to 3D print and paint multicolored minifigures more easily than ever, it’s easy to see why many people are looking up Warhammer 3D print files to fill out their tiny army’s ranks.

If you play Warhammer, you’ll know that a lot of the fun comes from preparing your figures for battle, whether that involves painting or modifying them to suit your personal style or staying true to that of your franchise of choice.

3D Printing Warhammer

3D printing your own Warhammer minifigures brings this a step further, by allowing you to make and customize your figurines before they’re even made.

Here we’re going to look at some of the best sites to find STL files for Warhammer 40k minifigure and why you’d want to go for them. I’ll also throw in a few choice examples that I just think look really cool.

Best Sites & Files for Warhammer 40K 3D Prints

MyMiniFactory

MyMiniFactory is a wonderful resource for finding 3D print files, and Warhammer is no exception here. There’s a lot to be said for the designers and uploaders on this site, as most of them give away their creations for free. Even premium Warhammer miniatures found here only cost around $1.50, so there’s no reason not to check it out!

Warhammer Dragon

My personal favorite of these premium models is this dragon, which just screams cool. But if you like to keep your army a little more on the human side, then you should try out the STL files for this warrioress minifigure. The detailing of each is of professional quality and well worth the tiny price tags.

Considering their insane popularity, Warhammer sets are still fairly cheap and affordable for the average tabletop gamer. But that doesn’t mean you have to pay for your minifigures. Fortunately, there’s a whole range of 3D printing files for Warhammer minifigures available on MyMiniFactory.

3D Printed Warhammer Witch Hunter

Whether you want a customizable Barbarian or this Grizzled Witch Hunter, you can select which variety you like and get to printing. The detailing may not be as precise as the real thing, but you can’t argue that for the price of zero dollars, they’re very impressive figures.

Cults 3D

Cults 3D is another well-trusted online catalog where you can find just about any homemade 3D printing files for use today. What sets it aside from MyMiniFactory is that they focus on premium and paid designs rather than offering so many for free.

But don’t let that discourage you from checking out Cults for your 3D printable Warhammer needs. The selection is massive and the quality is tough to top.

3D Printed Warhammer Terrain

What I prefer about Cults’ selection over MyMiniFactory’s is the extended range of miniatures. Warhammer is a wargame, and war doesn’t just involve people. If you need set dressings or tactical structures to place on your battlefield, then Cults is the place to go.

Warhammer extras like this building or these ruins provide excellent set pieces for own terrain as well as tactical points you can factor in to your strategy. All-in-all, these 3D Warhammer terrain files are well worth a good look for any player who wants compatible additions to reinvent their game.

Terrain 3

The STL files for Warhammer you’ll find on Cults aren’t restricted to the game itself. As well as minifigures, you can find some awesome props for any fan of the tabletop wargames. There’s something for every fan if they don’t mind a little more work.

Chainaxe

There’s this chainaxe or this Omnisian axe for anyone who wants to deck out their homes with cool props, and even this Warhammer-themed phone stand! There’s something for everyone here and the files are rarely that expensive, so dive on in!

Crowdfunding Sites

Like any art form, there are plenty of online 3D printing designers who turn to crowdfunding to help finance their craft with incentives for donators.

Crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter aren’t normally the first options to come to mind when you’re searching for Warhammer STL files, but I promise that the passion with which these artists work produces some awesome results.

Wraith King Army Warhammer 40k

My love of all things spooky naturally makes The Wraith King’s Army my personal favorite of these projects on Kickstarter. The detailing is exquisite and the potential for fun in-game is clear to see. This Army of the Sands project is also worth checking out if you’re a fellow fan of the macabre and want to add a little more darkness and beasts to your wargame.

Armies of the Sand

Warhammer is not just a man’s game, though, and there are plenty of options for awesome warrioresses out there too. I personally love these STL Warhammer files for these Fantasy Women Warriors, they’re some of the coolest designs around with promises of more to come if you pledge today!

Warhammer Warrioress

Indiegogo is another site with a host of Warhammer STL files you can help bring to life. This 3D printed post-apocalyptic terrain is perfect for any Warhammer set, for example.

Prusa Printers

3D printing giant Prusa has developed its own community space for designers to share their creations and collections with fellow enthusiasts.

Prusa Printers is home to some of the best and most useful 3D printed Warhammer figurines and additions to enhance any game. This is because Prusa has cultivated a welcoming community that openly shares its creations for all to enjoy.

3D Printed Warhammer Minifigures

High-quality STL files for Warhammer figurines are easy to find. This collection is sure to prove an excellent addition to any tabletop army, for example. As a bonus, there are also these Warhammer objective marker files to help keep track of your strategy.

There’s also this design for a Battle Dispersion Die if you happen to misplace your own. It’s handy to use all the time or keep as a spare in case yours goes AWOL.

Battle Markers

I tend to space out a lot, even when doing something fun. If you do the same, then you’ll want to print out these movement tokens to keep track of your unit’s movements.

Warhammer Keychains

For the fan who likes to carry their passion with them, this collection of 3D printed Warhammer keychains is a great way to take a little piece of your game with you. They also make really cool gifts for your fellow players!

CGTrader

CGTrader is one of the best places online to find more options for STL minifigures of all kinds. Naturally, this marketplace lends itself well to the Warhammer scene, and hosts a great range of 3D print minifigures for tabletop gamers to purchase at a cost, print, and enjoy today.

Be careful, though. Many of the models found on CGTrader may not produce desired results on standard or cheap home 3D printers. A lot of these designers have access to more impressive tech than the average hobbyist, so make sure you’ve got a machine capable of handling the high-detailed prints available here before getting your hopes up.

Demon

That being said, The Everard Demon vs. Paladin files are a great starting point for any homemade army, printed in poses so you can practically hear the battle cry. And these Bloodthirsty Demons are sure to send a chill down your opponent’s spine

If you want to go all-out, then try this collection of 19 Warhammer minifigures you can buy all at once to give your collection a head start. You can’t argue with a collection that stands out in both quality and quantity!

3D Printed Warhammer Figure Set

Don’t think it’s just humans getting the high-quality treatment, however, as you can also find this collection of Warhammer dwarves to give a new meaning to the word miniature.

For a truly eclectic team for the dedicated tabletop warrior, then I highly recommend checking out this amazing bundle of fantasy Warhammer figurines to diversify your forces. There’s just about everything here, from demons to zombies, elves to witches, and they all look amazing.

Our Top Picks: Best Warhammer STL Files for 3D Printing

I’ve shown you a few of my favorite 3D printed Warhammer files from each site, but what I’ve left out are my absolute favorites that you can buy, download, and print out today.

From practical tools for any Warhammer enthusiast to designs and collections that just plain look cool, here are some Warhammer STL files that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Magnetic Figurine Holder

  • Download: Printables
  • Designer: lukevanpainting
  • Price: Free
Painting Warhammer Minifigure

If you’re reading this, then you’ve probably already painted and decorated your Warhammer minifigures. If you have, you’ll know just how finicky it can be, not to mention a strain on the eyes. Personally, I always had difficulty keeping my hands still while painting. Unless you’ve got a surgeon’s hands, you’ve likely found yourself dotting specks of green on what’s supposed to be red on your Space Marine.

This design for a magnetic minifigure holder ensures that your models are kept still while you paint them to your heart’s content. I know this would have been a lifesaver for me back in the day!

Lord Byron

  • Download: CGTrader
  • Designer: Goblin Art Studios
  • Price: $5.00
Lord Byron

As a Lovecraft fan, I can’t not mention this fantastic Lord Byron (no relation) design that should leap out at anyone who’s also enjoyed the terrifying tales of the Old Gods. While not specifically stated to be inspired by the great ancient Cthulhu, the resemblance is very easy to see.

This design is as imposing as it is detailed, and should be a great minifigure for any player who wants to add a little Arkham horror to their game.

If you’re as much a fan of this as I am, then why not check out Goblin Art Studio’s other Warhammer 3D prints?

Solarius, The Sunfire Spear

  • Download: Printables
  • Designer: Lance Green
  • Price: Free
Sun Spear

Official Warhammer lore is impressively deep and shockingly diverse, spreading across just about every kind of artistic medium. Like any franchise, fans have made and spun their own takes on the Warhammer universe, and I am a sucker for a good story.

The Sunfire Spear is supposedly the weapon of the great archangel, known only through legend. If that’s not the kind of thing you want decorating your game room then I don’t know what is!

Mortar

  • Download: Printables
  • Designer: Chris B
  • Price: Free
3D Printed Warhammer Mortar

Every now and then you come across something that just catches your eye for reasons you can’t quite place. Whether you’re walking through a museum or casually perusing the shelves of a bookstore, sometimes something just jumps out at you without you really knowing why.

For me, that was this mortar. I don’t know if it’s the exquisite paint job or the high detailing of the often-underrepresented heavy weapon. Don’t ask me why, I just think it will look awesome on a Warhammer battlefield!

The Chaplain

  • Download: Gambody
  • Designer: Ale_x_x_x
  • Price: $29.99
Chaplain

The Chaplain is perhaps the most iconic figure in all of Warhammer. The imposing H.R. Giger-esque design is terrifying to look at and intimidating to imagine, making it one of the most popular Warhammer 3D prints out there.

Any fan of the franchise, even if you’ve never actually played the game, will love this highly detailed model of what is effectively Warhammer’s key mascot, and it’s a great price compared to the other models.

Hints and Tips For 3D Printing Warhammer Miniatures

3D printing minifigures of any kind is fairly simple, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few things to keep in mind so you get the best results you can. No Warhammer player wants to set out on the battlefield with subpar figurines.

So here we’re going to go over a few little hints to make sure your fighters are ready for combat!

Dig a Little Deeper

Warhammer is a licensed franchise, and many of the designs we’ve looked at here are fan-made. Naturally, there are copyright implications to using official terms and titles.

You could be overwhelmed by simply searching ‘Warhammer’ on any given site. While you’ll still find some excellent STL files for minifigures like what we’ve seen here, there are far more files out there that have avoided official terminology for fear of having their designs taken down.

Warhammer 2

To help with this article, I dug deep into the searches and followed a lot of new collections from artists who avoided patented names and terms. So don’t give up if you don’t find what you want on first glance, there’s always more out there!

Be Aware of your Printer’s Limitations

A great draw of Warhammer is how highly detailed the figures are. Naturally, we’ve seen a lot of similarly defined designs here.

3D Print Warhammer 40k

It’s important to recognize what your 3D printer is capable of to avoid disappointment. Standard FDM printers won’t be able to match the quality of more expensive or top-of-the-line resin printers.

While you’ll still get what you’re after, don’t get your hopes too high for professional-grade Warhammer 3D prints if you feel your printer just isn’t up to the task.

Know How to Post-Process Your Prints

Even if you get the perfect print, you’ll probably still want to be careful that you don’t mess it up in post-processing.

For top results, make sure you know all there is when it comes to sanding, treating, and/or painting your 3D printed Warhammer figurines so you can rock up to the table in style.

Essentially, always make sure you’re using the right treatments and paints for the job. There’s nothing worse than ruining a perfectly good print with your own hands!
